Youth Services

Gloucester Shire Council provides a number of services to the children and young people of the Gloucester Shire Council and district.

These include the provision of:

• The Skatepark area located in Billabong park
• Sport and recreation centre
• Maintenance of parks and playing areas across the Shire

 A Youth Development Officer to:

• Assist in identifying and responding to issues affecting young people
• Provide support and resources to improve young people's awareness of services and facilities available for them
• Co-ordinate the Youth Drop-in Centre
• Co-ordinate the Indent committee, (a group of young people who organise music events for youth of the community).


The Youth Drop-in Centre is located at 61 King Street, Gloucester.


The Youth Centre is under the auspice of Gloucester Shire Council funded by the Department of Community Services and the Gloucester Youth Advisory Committee (GYAC) oversees the functioning of the Centre. The Youth Centre provides a valuable social outlet for the young people between 12 and 18 of the community, a safe space , information , advocacy referral and entertainment.


The Centre the Youth Development Officer, assisted by community volunteers co-ordinates a range of semi-structured activities, outings and social opportunities, including movie nites, pool /table tennis comps, music and computer access. The Youth Centre encourages young people to be responsible for their behaviour and actions by rewarding positive behaviour, good communication and providing opportunities for young people to make valuable contributions to their community.


The Centre is currently open Wednesdays, Thursdays from 3pm to 6pm and Fridays 3pm to 9pm. During school terms we host Indent event planning meetings between 3.30pm and 4.30pm Friday afternoons for Indent members only. Any recreational or educational activities outside these hours are advertised at the local high school, this website and on the Centre noticeboard.
