Gloucester District Historical Society is housed in the first Shire Council Chambers built in 1909 and the building is listed on National Trust Register.
Displays include World War I & II memorabilia, a pioneer gallery, Australiana furniture and general gadgets. Items exhibited include samples of sewing and clothes, carpenters tools, extensive collection of rocks, minerals, and gemstones plus aboriginal artefacts.
Many historical records are available to browse. The old school building originally used in the Upper Bowman between 1938-1968 has been relocated to St Clement'd Park and represents one of the only one-teacher school buildings left in the district.
